Fire Safety, the letter L, and number review 1-5

This week we spent a lot of time talking about fire and how to be safe if we are ever around it. We also worked on how to make the proper sound of the letter "Ll"... And continued to work on our number sense 1-5...counting slowly and pointing to each number!

 Thursday:
My Sweet buddy for the day!

We practiced "Stop, Drop, and Roll" After reading our "Poem of the Week"

We then carried it over to our daily craft time...the kiddos got to practice cutting. They sequenced stop drop and roll.

Cutting is hard...we worked with the sweet buddies on the proper scissor hold.

Perfection!!!

A snack and a bit on Eric Carle...we watch a little bit of his biography! I was amazed that many of the kiddos could recall a few of the books he was written! Many loved The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

Is it hot or not? We talked about each picture and worked on sorting them...

So smart!
Our letter hunt and some "Lime-Green Lacing for the letter L...

L is for lacing! This is a fantastic fine motor skill! Here is the link along with other fun things to do for each letter of the alphabet:

A fun way to show how quickly fire can spread. I paired the kiddos up with a friend and gave them a white flame and added some paint into it...as they rolled the marble around they noticed that the "fire" moved all over the shoe box lid.

A neat way to show that fire is dangerous...and can move fast!

After reading Eric Carle's The Greedy Python we sequenced what the Python ate during the story. A fun way to retell this book and a fun way to end our Author Study with Eric Carle!
