Friends and Family

What a wonderful week to celebrate our families and our friends. We loved sharing our collages and telling our new friends about our families. We are quickly learning each others names. We had fun playing some name games. I have inserted a class list along with the kiddo's photos so you can put names with faces and practice the sweet poem in their poetry folders.

We talked about what it looks like to be a good friend. We read many books about friends including, "Big Al" and "My new Friend" Sharing is something we are really working on during play time...the kiddos are getting the hang of it as we settle in. We made a friendship cake (I hope they enjoyed eating it at home). After the batter was made they each got to choose a color of food coloring and drop it in. After that we discussed that each drop represented them and it was beautiful...but when we swirled all of us/colors together it was even greater!

For our families we read many great books "My family" and "Brothers and sisters" We learned that every family looks different...but God has given us our family because he loves us so very much.

For our letter Ff we made feathered fans and stamped fingerprints. We also had an independent dot sheet. I introduced the circle. Number 2 we had many fun exercises to work on number sense (2 jumping jacks, 2 push-ups, 2 twists, etc).

I had printed out sweet family pictures...and the kiddos worked on 1:1 counting each member and tracing the number of members in their family.

During the rain on Friday we got to choose to free paint or do play-doh (or both).

This week, see if your child can...
1.Make the letter F our of something around your home...or tell you something that begins with F.
2. 1:1 count 2 items.
3.Find circles around your home.
4. Tell you some ways they can be a great friend and a new friend they have made.
5. Read some of the poems in their folder.
