Rainbows and St. Patrick's Day

A fun and colorful week! We always seem to get so much done in such a little time. We worked on letter and number review, had many fun experiments, and some wonderful crafts!

Thursday:
We are lucky for so much! I went around the room and asked each kiddo what was lucky in their life...
I got some of the sweetest responses!

Our lucky charms making 4 leaf clovers! These turned out super cute...and you can cherish them forever!

Changing the color of the carnations...I learned something here! *Spoiler Alert:  I have always used white carnations...and of course the store was out...she told me yellow works just as well...NOT the case!

But...we went ahead and made our predictions anyway!

What comes next...a fun way to explore patterns!

and use scissors!

Tasting the rainbow. Have you ever wondered why Skittles says, "Taste the Rainbow" when not all of the colors in the rainbow are in the skittles package?? Where is blue??

But the kiddos had fun...they sorted, they graphed, they counted! A perfect math day!

matching capital letters with lowercase letters...

Making rainbow noodle bracelets...every mamas dream jewelry!

And Mrs. Laura's dream fine motor skill!

 Friday:
Making a rainbow with Fruit Loops...

Perfection!

Perfect order!

These turned out super duper cute! We water colored a rainbow...

Then added a pot of gold! I took my little guys home and framed it! Something super cute to put up each year!

Non of these leprechauns will get a pinch today! They all wore green...I was a little disappointed! :)

Thanks for the cute snack sweet gal!

My lucky charm!

Painting a shamrock with puffy paint. We learned that St. Patrick used the clover to tell people about the "Father, Son, and Holy spirit"

Sorting and graphing Lucky Charms...They are magically delicious!

If we found a pot of gold...what would we buy with it!?

Our colors didn't turn out to well...Even this teacher learns something new each year! We talked about our results...and I promised that next year I would use white carnations and hunt each kiddo down to show them those results!

Onto our next experiment...we are going to catch a rainbow.
We talked a lot about the 3 main colors that make the rainbow (red, yellow, and blue). These colors mix together and make all of the rest: red/yellow=orange
blue/yellow=green
red/blue= purple

We put milk in this pan...added the 3 colors, then put dish soap in the center. The soap caused the colors to swirl.

They then colored what they saw!

I love this theme! What a fun week to have right before spring break! Enjoy your time off...and I will see you back in 2 weeks for the Pond theme!

Ocean Creatures!

We had an awesome week exploring the creatures from down below! We also worked on the letter Oo and had a focus on number 8.

Thursday:
After reading, A house for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle we made hermit crabs of our own and decorated their shells.

Who doesn't love glitter glue!

What a great hermit crab. I will add the eyes later!

I think he loves hand prints as much as I do!

A little science on how this sea creature protects itself.
First we watched this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjZ2k1Qm3bA
We also compared it to Hank in Finding Dory.

We learned that the octopus sprays ink so they can move away fast and their predator can't see them!

O is for Cherrio's...well kind of! I didn't have Cherrio's so this other O cereal would have to do!
This is a great grasping skill too!

 Friday:
This week I added wiki sticks to their name bags. This is a great way for them to manipulate and create their letters!
PLEASE...PLEASE remember to keep these in their school folders...I was missing quite a few this week.

Just check out that M...she looks thrilled!

Great job sweet girl!

Painting her squid...
These turned out super cute!

Working on writing her name! WOW WOW WOW!!!!

O is for orange...

great job buddy!

So on Thursday I gave them this activity...but I had made them with yarn. That proved to be extremely challenging...so I took them home and made them with pipe cleaners instead. This was a great way to staircase count and use their fine motor skills!

Always a smile on her sweet face!

Hard at work!

Exploring sea creatures of all kinds...
Discovering they can hear the ocean in the shells!

Exploring lots of different shells...

We combined Mrs. Hannah's class and our to make the layers of the ocean...
This proved to be more challenging than we thought!

We had trouble keeping the layers separated.
Hannah concentrating super hard!

The kiddos were able to see some of the layers separate.
What a great week learning about the Ocean! Next week is St. Patrick's Day and rainbows!
