Apples, Apples, and more Apples!

This week always makes the path for welcoming fall (now if the weather would just cooperate!). We did lots of fun science, some taste testing, creative exploring, and of course worked on the number 4 and letter Aa.

Thursday:
Celebrating her being her!

She even sang for us!

This is our sensory bin...each week it is updated with the theme...the kiddos get to explore...and boy do they love it!

hand print apples with a worm made with our thumbs!

Always a pose to be found!

Are you looking at me looking at you?

Free and social play is so important for these kiddos!

How sweet are these!?

Which kind of apple do you like best?
Red, Yellow, or Green?

We graphed our favorites and then I asked higher level thinking questions!
Which color did most friends like? How many liked red and yellow?

Roll, count, and add apples to our trees

buddy reading time

dot sheet

letter hunt

This is a great way to build number sense.

 Friday:
She is so giving she let me wear her crown!  Such a sweet princess she is!!

He is going to be a great public speaker one day! So eager to share and had lots of amazing stories!

decorating an apple however they choose! Bringing creativity to the table!

Mrs. Jennifer reading Pete the Cat book for our author study!

ordering: Small, medium, and large apples.

staircase counting. Adding one extra apple to each basket. This proved to be tricky for them...but we will do this so many times throughout the year...it builds number sense and their understanding of what +1 looks like

practicing tracing...

Time for erupting apples and dancing apple seeds.

core out the apples...add baking soda and food coloring (I used water colors)

Add some vinegar!
And BAM!!! An erupting apple! The kiddos predicted what they thought would happen.

So cool!
P.S. Thanks to the mamas that saved me with the ingredients to do this.
We also made apple seeds dance with baking soda and water...but I forgot to take pictures.

What?? The week is over?
Next week we are exploring zoo animals! I wish I could bring my zoo Jake in!
Hopefully this will make you smile!
