Dr. Seuss Week!

Read Across America is such a fun week to celebrate. I truly believe that if everyone was more like Dr. Seuss we would live in an amazing world. He’s fun and silly...but his stories are packed with powerful meanings. This week we really focused on, “A Person is A Person...no matter how small.”
We worked on the letter Yy, continued with numbers 0-10, and celebrated and amazing author.

For our letter we did our weekly word hunt and we also added “yellow yarn” to the letter Yy (a great fine motor skill pinching and grasping small bits of yarn).

For our numbers we staircase counted 1-6. I sent this activity home. I am encouraging you to do this with your kiddo. This will help you see where they are at with understanding the value of the number and number identification...along with 1:1 counting. We also worked on non-standard units of measurement of our foot. We measured our foot in cubes and buttons...and discussed why the numbers weren't the same.

We had fun exploring, “Oh the Places we will Go” The kiddos got to tell me where they would like to go. They also had fun water color painting a Dr. Seuss Hat.

During craft time we made a Horton with our handprint...celebrating that we are a person no matter how small!  Then for fun on Friday we got to turn our faces into Dr. Seuss...these make me smile!

We are so grateful for this amazing weather that we got to enjoy some much needed outside time! Yay!!!

Finally, we started our new bible verse this week. God is inviting us to Love like him! Perfect for March...Let’s live by the “Golden Rule.”

Things to do at home:
1. I sent home a laminated paper with their name on it...Please keep this on their bag. With this they can trace it with a dry erase marker, trace it with yarn or noodles, or even just their finger. Work on them spelling it aloud as they make it
2. Count out 10 objects
3. Count to 20
4. Read a Dr. Seuss book with you!
