Community Helpers

This week we learned that it takes so many to run a community...and every job is important! I learned about what the kiddos want to do when they "get big." My favorite occupation was a firing breathing dragon! We worked on the letter Cc and continued with the number 6. We also had a wonderful guest and a few of her furry and not so furry friends!

Thursday:
Fun with Gumby...

Adventures with Pokey

X-rays...we learned all about these. I heard many fun stories on who these kiddos knew that have had to have x-rays!

This was also a fun way to incorporate 1:1 counting!
PERECTION!

Which job would you like to do to help the community?
Nurse, Dentist, and Teacher tied with 3 each
Mail Carrier 2
Mayor and Vet 1

Manipulating the number 6.

 Friday:
Working on making a Community Helper Tool Belt.

Stop lights help the community.
I had the kiddos tear paper to make the parts of the stop light. We talked about what each color represents. Tearing paper really strengthens their fingers and hands. Note: check how small your kiddo's paper tearing is. The smaller the tearing the stronger their fingers are. This is an awesome fine motor task!

Hard at work! Great job buddy!

When I grow up I want to....

Perfect grip on that crayon!

What an awesome tool belt! She has everything she needs to help her community!

This boy knows his way to his teacher's heart! Purdue...Boiler Up!!  It only took him 2 years to wear it!

Our bible verse of the week. I have been forgetting to post them. Here is the link I often use to get some amazing ideas on how to connect our theme to the bible.

Our visitor from the pet shelter...she brought her 2 furry friends and one not so furry bearded dragon!

We learned about the way to approach a dog and a few other important safety tips.

What a fun week learning about our community! Next week is all about those sweet little hearts and Valentine's Day!
Go Broncos!
