Winter Animals...Penguins, Polar Bears, OH MY!!!!

Finally a full week! And what a fun one it was. We learned so many neat things about winter animals. We compared how they keep warm and how we keep warm. Learned about the letter Bb...including blubber! Our number sense...We moved on from the number 5 to 6! These kiddos never cease to amaze me! I am blessed with a group of smarties!

Thursday:
After our morning message we made a list of how we keep warm. We then talked about how animals keep warm!

Who doesn't like a cuddly polar bear? Especially one made of these sweet hands!

                                                                       Perfection sweet buddy!

We also learned from our poem what camouflage is!
The kiddos listened to a book on tape.

They then told me what they would hear if they were a polar bear. Next they added coconut to give the polar bear texture. A great fine motor skill picking up these little pieces.

We are going on a letter hunt!
After our letter hunt we always play a fun board game! Hi-Ho-Cherrio this week! A fun way to practice counting...
Science time!!!!! Let's learn how blubber works!

My goodness this is freezing cold!

How long can you leave your bare hand in ice water??

There must be a better way to keep warm! Yup!! Let's add a rubber glove, lard, and some plastic wrap to imitate blubber!

Much warmer! This is how animals keep warm in the cold

It's all about free play time...They can't get enough of the Blocks!!!

Friday:
Penguins..another favorite arctic animal!

These kiddos glued each and every piece by themselves. We also talked about how each part is a shape (ovals and triangles).

Priceless sweet friends!
Snack and our author study! We will be continuing this story next week to work on retelling in a fun way.

Painting for the letter Bb...Blue paper, Blue paint, and paint Brushes (silly ones!)

Time to count and use scissors...We are beginning to focus on proper scissor grip. A skill they will need in kinder.

Perfection sweet girl!
