Dinosaurs, Fossils, and Fire Trucks...Oh My!!

This week we worked on learning about Dinosaurs, the letter "Dd" (we are now discussing capitol and lower case letters), and the number 8. Pluse we had some super...special friends visit us!

What is a fossil? And how can we make one?

Whoa! This is pretty cool!

It feels, "rough"

We add: flour, coffee grounds, salt, and cold coffee (I know I had to waste some yummy coffee!)

Let's mix it up...

I need some help! So many loved to help mix our creation.

Now pick a small dinosaur or  choose to do footprints

We need a second batch...good thing I have a helper!

Getting ready to make a fossil!

We had to press it down firm...and make a good imprint.

We are great at taking turns...Now Mrs. Laura must take them home and bake them! And let everyone know these are not cookies!!!

Cooked to prehistoric perfection!

A good dino read is a must!

Our new independent station. This week on day 1 we did "dot the Dd"

We could hole punch

use stickers, or our special dot markers

Working so hard on the new and improved letter hunt.

A new and improved "Make that Letter"

Measuring with non-standard units.

Our Number 9 book

Nicely done!
Let's make a stegosaurs

We need our sweet handprints of course!

I think she is enjoying herself!
Scissor cutting. This is so important!! It helps with hand strength, eye-hand coordination, and so much more!

You can work with your child at home...holding the scissors correctly is half the battle!

He's getting it! Super job!

Let's decorate some dino feet...independently.  Day 2 of an independent activity.

Believe it or not...using a glue bottle is an awesome fine motor skill. It helps them strengthen those sweet hands...

Stickers...peeling them is another super way to develop those fine motor skills and hand strength. Not to mention each of these things (stickers, glue, and cutting) the kiddos LOVE doing!

Why we have some special visitors! A huge thank you to the Lafayette Township Fire Department! We feel so blessed they took the time out of their day to come and teach us a few important things!

#11...What a beauty!

We need a closer look!

Whoa! We didn't know it could do that!

There's water in there!?! How cool!

Taking a closer look at some important gadgets.

I got this! Maybe someday I will be a friendly firefighter!

Oxygen...that is a must!

An Axe...The kiddos are so impressed!

Step right up!

The most priecless moment! Daddy and his baby girl! She will be a fire fighter one day! I just know it (plus she told me she was...and I believe her!)!

What an awesome crew! We love our community helpers!! Please stop by and visit them!
