Valentine's Day

Love was in the air this week in our room! We got another new friend this week! We feel so blessed to have a class of 14 sweethearts! This week we worked on the letter Vv, the number 10, and the shape heart.
During our letter work we did a letter hunt and learned that 2 friends in our room have the letter Vv in their names. We also made love bugs by using the letters of our names.
For the number 10 we worked on adding 10 hearts to our 10 wiggly fingers (there is a fun song that goes along with this...check their folders). We also did a number and heart match game.
We had such fun with our independent station we threaded noodles, laced hearts, created our own valentine artwork, picked up pom-poms with plastic tweezers, and tore pieces of paper to fill a heart (because we love you to pieces). These were all amazing fine motor skills for their growing hands!!
The kiddos worked hard to make a very special piece of clay art for you...this is something you will be able to treasure for many years to come. We also made our Valentine’s Day bags for our special Valentines.
Our part was so amazing. Thank you to all of the parents who took the time to volunteer and help plan. Every year I am so blessed with willing parents! The kiddos played games, passes out Valentines, sorted candy hearts, made a fun snack, and put together a fun craft! Such a fun way to celebrate our love for our friends!
Finally, we are continuing to learn how to love others the way that God loves us! We are doing this by learning to be helpful, kind, sharing, caring, and so much more!
Please have fun when you have your week with Gumby or Pokey and remember to send him back on Thursday. Every kiddo will have the opportunity to have some fun with this!
This week ask your child to...
1. spell their name
2. arrange the letters in their name to make their name
3. count to 20
4. identify numbers 0-5
5. Find hearts, circles, and squares around the house
6. Ask them who they should love like themselves

Tearing paper is a great way to increase the strength in their hands...the smaller pieces the tear...they stronger their hands are.

Making "love bugs" with our names...these are in the hallway.
This is something you can do at home...give them all the letters of their name and have them put them in the correct order.
