snow and ice!

We had a busy week...so many fun things to do with ice.  We worked on the letter Ii and the number 8. We had fun melting ice and learning about snowflakes.
For the letter Ii we did our Ii hunt and dot sheet. We also investigated who had  the weekly letter in their names. Also, with their names we worked on ordering the letters of our names into the proper order (We made snowmen while doing this).
For the number 8 we added 8 snowflakes to their winter snowman. Really encourage kiddos to count slow while they are 1:1 counting. Their words often move faster than their fingers.
For our independent stations the kiddos had fun beading snowflakes and melting ice. When melting ice they learned that salt helps speed up the melting process. They also colored a sweet snowman with a bible verse on it about God washing away our sins and making us white as snow.
Mrs. Rachel’s class invited us over to read stories and to make sparkle Dlay-Doh snowmen. These are super cute. We are letting them dry out a bit before we send them home. What a blessing this was!
We read a sweet story called, “Sneezy Snowman” The kiddos got to tell me how their snowman melted and then paint a melted snowman...so cute!. Our other craft was painting igloos using Lego blocks.
This week I have started their mid-year assessments. Please remember the things I am testing are only guidelines to show you what we have been working on this year...the are NOT expectations. This is also a good way to connect home and school...not to mention to give you some ideas of what they could work on at home.

Some things to try at home:
1. Verbally spell their name
2. Have your kiddo make their name with noodles, string, play-doh, in sand or shaving cream...etc
3. Count to 20
4. Tell you about how we can do anything with God by our side...he's always with us.

Let's get moving!

We got a special treat! We got to visit Mrs. Rachel's room. Her mom was a guest today. She read us stories and we got to build play-doh snowmen!!

What a fun experience...we are so grateful!
