Another fun week in the books. This week we looked at the letter Pp, the number 8, and winter animals.
For the letter Pp, we did a dot sheet, our letter hunt, and were able to cut and glue polar bears onto the letter P. We learned that only 1 friend in our room has the letter p in her name.
For the number 7 we worked on using a 10 frame to count. This helps us understand number value. We were also given 7 marshmallows to make igloos with. It was fun seeing their minds busy at work!
We had a fun poem this week...check it out in their poetry folder. They were all reciting it pretty well by Friday.
For our crafts we made penguins. The penguins were made entirely on their own. I showed them a model penguin and they had access to pieces and glue. I was loving how creative they were. We also made polar bear hand prints!
This week while learning about winter animals and how they keep warm we got to experiment with Crisco, a mitt, and some water. They had fun comparing ice water with and without the blubbery mitt. We learned a lot about penguins and even got a fun book to color and keep.
Finally, we worked on colors and shapes, did a survey on what we would eat and where we would live if we were a polar bear. This fun sheet will be added to their portfolio.
This week at home:
1. Have your child verbally spell their name
2. Have your child count to 15
3. See if they can 1:1 count 7 items
4. Play a color game and see if they know all of their colors
4. Talk about how Jesus gives us what we need.

We worked on proper scissor grip and the kiddos practiced cutting |
After we cut the penguins out we used a ten frame to count out 7. This helps give us a visual of what 7 looks like...creating number sense. |
Playing with arctic animals |
These kiddos got to really create their own penguins. The pieces were cut out...they grabbed, glued and built. They made my heart to happy to see their creativeness at work! |
