We had a blast learning about pets. We learned that 6 friends have pets and 6 do not. Some (like me) even have chickens for pets! We discussed how to take care of pets and what they need.
We worked on the letter Pp. We painted pets, We made pet rocks, sorted uppercase and lower case Pp's, we laced cards that were pirates and princess, and did a letter hunt and even added popcorn kernels to a Pp (great fine motor skill too) . We continued singing the alphabet each day.
We read lots of fun and silly pet books,
Cookie's Week, Octopuppy, Not Norman, and
This Book Ate My Dog. We also played a silly game, "Doggy, Doggy Where's my bone" The kiddos sat in a circle and we sang the poem...while I hid the dog bone with a child. They had to guess who had a bone (also a fun way to work with names)
We worked on color sorting dog bones and using 1:1 counting and made hand print kitty cats (These are hanging in the hallway), We also worked on counting the dots on dot cubes after we rolled it and understanding value of those dots...by feedking a puppy dog!
We finished up our August bible study this week talking about How God Loves us and is our friends. We also worked on Genesis 1:24 "And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds..."
See if your child can do the following this week...
1. Help you build or draw the letters M, P, and F
2. Find something around your house that begins with P
3. Trace a circle and a square
