Dr. Seuss...

Dr. Seuss has so many valuable life lessons. We really enjoyed his fun stories and tongue twisters. We worked on the letter Yy and for math we worked on sorting, graphing, and counting.

Thursday:
Gumby Fun...

Pokey enjoyed tons of basketball!

Silly hats! Wonderful friends!

Mrs. Natalie doing some hand painting!

"A Person is a Person NO Matter how small!" Dr. Seuss
We spent a lot of time on this phrase!

Letter Yy dot sheet! Sweet little minion!

Letter hunt and then some fun Dr. Seuss games!

Math Time...
Adding fish to our fish bowls. We spent a lot of time counting up and working on the value of a number.
*I took some video of them counting...but I am currently having some technical difficulties figuring out how to upload it. Once I figure it out I will let you know and post it. I think this will be wonderful for you to see how kiddos count.
**This was a great way for me to informally assess the kiddos and see how they were doing with 1:1 counting and understanding the value of a single digit number.

A Wocket in my Pocket! We had fun doing an audio video of this book...we then made Wockets of our own!

Friday:
The Lorax. After reading this sweet story we made Trufla Trees.
This was a great story on how to love the things around us and take care of them!

Fine motor time as we make Trufla Trees.
They picked out their pipe cleaners and twisted them together! As always I love to challenge those sweet fingers!
Just look at that "thinking" face!

The final sweet product! These would be super cute in frames!

Yy is for Yarn!
I loved this activity. They had to glue on yarn to their letters. Why do I love this?? Well...because they have to pick up those tiny strings...I love it when they have to use the pinch grasp!
*I also love the fact that they think this is super fun! It might be fun but it is educational and encourages fine motor growth as well!

What is so funny...this sweet boy got glue on his fingers...and now the yarn is stuck! All smiles here!

Goldfish color graphing!
I gave the kiddos a handful of colorful goldfish. They had to sort the colors, graph them, and count. They counted each color individually...and if they understood and mastered that I had them count them all together.
I also asked key questions: Which color do you have the most of? Which color do you have the least of? How many red and green ones do you have?
This simple activity is power packed with problem solving skills! You can make it as easy as you want or you can ask "thinker" questions!

I sent home their fish so they could model to you what they have learned...and you can ask them some fun math questions!

Cat in the Hat names!
Each kiddo had a bag with the letters of their names. They had to order their letters to create their names. We also talked about AB (red, white, red, white = a, b,a, b)  patterns.

Perfection...Ready to take them home and show you what we can do!

Excellent counting sweet girl! I LOVE that pointing!

Yy is for Yo-Yo!

Using a Yo-Yo can be super tricky!

Time to make Cat in the Hat disguises!

Super Sweet!

Dr. Seuss has entered LAP!

Love these boys!
What a fun week! We had lots of fun learning about Yy, and counting, and even what nonsense words are! But...most importantly we had fun learning how special we are and how we treat everyone the way Dr. Seuss would have loved us to treat one another...with LOVE in our hearts!
