Roar! We LOVE dinosaurs!

What a super fun week learning all about dinosaurs! We read many non-fiction books and even made fossils! We also played Candyland to help us with 1:1 correspondence when counting and our colors! Learning can be such fun!

Thursday:
Sizing up his dinosaurs and putting them in order from smallest to biggest! So smart!

grr! This kiddo loves the roar of the dinos!

Let's make fossils. The first attempt didn't go over so well we made it with coffee, coffee, grinds, and flour. For some reason they didn't turn out...so we tried another recipe. We compared them too...The coffee one turned out to be more runny and hard to make the prints of the dinosaurs...the second one was thicker and much easier to hold molds. I will give you both links and you can try them both at home! Let me know how yours turn out!!!

It was fun to use our sense of smell to determine this was coffee...many told me about their parents drinking coffee!

adding some prints...

dotting our dinosaurs!

We worked on our names and the shape of a triangle. I had the kiddos names on the triangles and they had to put them in the correct order. Such a fun activity to do at home. Our goal is that the kiddos will be able to write their first name by the end of the year!! We will be focusing on this a great deal after Christmas break!

Super job sweet buddy!

Nice work lil Miss Smarty!
Playing dinosaurs!

Friday:
Our craft for Friday was making a stegosaurus using our hand prints!

Check out these cool stamp pads I was able to purchase with the trike-a-thon money! They make stamping hands quick, easy, and less messy! Thanks!

That is the cutest little stegosaurus I have ever laid eyes on!

With so much built up energy with this nasty weather we needed to find a way to get it out! So after we did mind-in-motion we had some relays!

We are tornadoes here!

hopping rabbits here!

helicopters here! This made many very dizzy! ha!!

Four our independent station I had the kiddos attempt to punch out dots for their Dd. This proved to be very tiring for their sweet hands. Such a great fine motor skill. After each of the kiddos punched a few dots...I had extra dots at the tables so they could sprinkle them on their Dd's

Hard at work!

Super work!
Time for non-standard units of measurement! We are measuring dinosaur bones with unifix cubes!

After we measured them out we counted how long each bone was. Great for practicing 1-1! Many kiddos still have a tendency to count faster than their fingers can move...You can work with them at home: count out napkins for dinner, silverware, cups, or even count their food on their plate!

We then worked on tracing the number!

Candyland time!

We used this game...to practice counting and colors. A fun and interactive way to learn!

Blocks and dinosaur caves! So much fun!! Such great imaginations!!
