Halloween.....

What a fun and busy week with our school pictures and Halloween celebration! We really had to keep moving to get it all in!

Thursday:
Sweet boys reading while awaiting their pictures to be taken!

Mrs. Trina reading my all-time favorite story...The Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything

Let's learn about the letter Hh...using our new Apple TV!!!

We can practice writing the Hh using a special letter writing APP

Let's add 5 Halloween stickers. Of course I love this for many reasons...Let me count the ways!
1. fine motor...peeling the stickers
2. Hearing them count out 5 stickers independently
3. Watching the 1:1 correspondence while they count
This was a great informal assessment of their counting!

And why do we love Halloween? Most said dressing up and candy! Who can blame them...they are 3!!
Friday:
After reading Skeleton Hiccups...we made skeletons of our own...

We picked a skeleton head....

Then they had to count out 5 q-tips on their own! Another great way to informally assess them!

Awesome finished skeleton!

We went on a detective hunt for the letter Hh in our Spooky poem! Once they located the Hh they used highlighter tape to mark it!

Such smart friends I have!

Happy Halloween! From these friendly characters!

Ready to Trick-or-Treat from our friendly neighbors Edward Jones

Let's get batty with our independent activity....decorating Bats! Do I sound like a broken record when I say fine motor skills???

This is usually Mrs. Trina's activity...but with her out today it was mine! I am so impressed with what she has taught them! They rocked this activity like all-stars!

Candy corn counting. This was was also an awesome way to check their counting and number sense.  Many have caught on...a few still need some extra practice! Check your kiddo at home...this is a fun way for you to work with them! They could count out napkins or silverware for dinner...count your coins...count their Halloween candy! Let's keep their numbers between 0-5! After Christmas...we will go beyond that and work on 6-10! A strong foundation is the key!
