We had fun diving into the ocean theme this week. We worked on the letter Oo, focused on the number 8, and learned a lot about different ocean creatures.
For the letter Oo we did our weekly hunt and we also glued cherri-o’s onto the letter O. Only 1 friend in our room has the letter O in their name.
For the number 8 we staircase counted the arms of a jellyfish. Working on number sense and what the value of each number is can be tricky. Try this at home!
For fine motor they used plastic tweezers to pick-up pom-poms and place them on the octopus. We also got to play the moving fishing game...they had so much fun with this. We borrowed a “pool” from Mrs. Rachel and got to fish too! The kiddos also had fun beading a jellyfishes arms.
During craft time we made hand print jellyfish and made a “house” for our hermit crab. The kiddos got to also explore many fun ocean stamps and make an “ocean” masterpiece of their own.
We had some fun with science this week. They have learned that octopus like to “ink” when they are scared or in danger. We watched a fun ocean clip on this and recreated it with water colors. We also looked at a book called, “Actual Size,” where we got to see the actual size of a giant squids eye, Great White Shark, and a salt water crocodiles head! Look for fun pictures on the blog soon. Not to mention we read many fun non-fiction stories to help us learn about the ocean. Finally, they had so much fun exploring my ocean figurine creatures. There were so many neat ones!
We know that God created our entire earth...and every creature inside the ocean. Checkout their weekly poem with bible verse.
