Pumpkins...

What a fun week exploring pumpkins! We learned about the life cycle, and explored the gooey insides! We also worked on the letter Pp and the number 5.

Thursday:
Exploring some of our new science items we were able to purchase with donations from the trike-a-thon!

Painting pumpkins! We read a fun story about Spookly a square pumpkin and learned that it is wonderful to be different! So we painted unique pumpkins...just like ourselves!

More science items!

Who likes pumpkin seeds? This gal does!
Every kiddo tried them! I was amazed how many loved them and wanted more. We graphed our results!

A great fine motor skill. The kiddos used toy hammers and golf tees to hammer into the pumpkins. They then pulled them out. A fun and easy way to strengthen their hands.

Letter Pp hunt...

What is that smell? Vinegar! The start of our science experiment. We used those candy pumpkins and placed them in the following...

vinegar, water, milk, and oil. We then made predictions on what would happen to the pumpkins...

The kiddos placed the pumpkins in...We let them sit over night to see what would happen.

Group math counting!

Friday:
I was amazed this morning with what happened to our pumpkins! I couldn't wait to revisit this with the kiddos!

Together we ordered the life cycle of the pumpkins!

Our "thumpkin" patch! We used our thumbs to make this special pumpkin patch for you!

Learning about the circumference of a pumpkin...We then made predictions how big around we thought the pumpkin was!

We then checked our predictions! Was it too long, too short, or just right?

This gal was just right! Super job sweet gal!

Smelling the insides...and then describing what we smelt!

Math staircase counting! My goodness...I want to take a second to tell you that these kiddos blew me away with this activity! I was expecting it to be a bit challenging...but not at all for them! I was one proud teacher! I also sent home the confetti for the kiddos to show you their awesome skills at home! Please take a moment and let them show you how hard they have worked on counting!

Also...must I mention that this is a great fine motor task? It is super hard for these sweet fingers to pick those up!

More hammering! They loved this activity!

What does this feel like?
Revisiting our science!
Water dissolved the pumpkin...

oil preserved the pumpkin!

Milk dissolved the pumpkin!
And it looks like I forgot to take a picture but vinegar dissolved it too!

Checking them out!

What a fun week learning about pumpkins! Halloween next week!
