Zoo Animals

What a fun week. This is the first year that LAP has done zoo animals so I had so much fun exploring the theme and finding new and fun things to try. We worked on the letter Zz and the number 4. We even had fun making elephant toothpaste!

Thursday:
This was the first time these kiddos got to attempt ordering their names. I decided to give this a try...I don't expect mastery and this is an activity we will focus more on after Christmas. This was fun for them because once they ordered their names correctly it made a fun zoo animal.

Gal of the day!

hand print giraffe!

I found a new letter hunt and the kiddos rocked it! This was more challenging than the ones I have made in the past...they proved to be up for the challenge!

Working the number 4!

Tracing 4 with their fingers...

adding 4 sticker!

matching game...Great counting sweet girl!

Perfect!

team work!

The kiddos had a blast making different animals!
Friday:
Our special guy of the day...I put his hat on and his sweet noggin was bigger than mine! He must be full of lots and lots of smart brains! :)

A sweet special gal! She loved sharing the pictures of her new sweet twin sisters!

I took these pictures of the sweet kiddos on Thursday...and then printed them out.
They turned their sweet faces into roaring lions!

I hung these masterpieces in the hallway!

sunshine, friends, and bubbles!

Making our Z into a zebra...they had to use their strong fingers to tear the paper to make its stripes. This is an easy and amazing fine motor skill to build strength in their tiny fingers. The smaller they tear the stronger their hands are!

Staircase counting once again this week. I can already tell they are gaining a great understanding of numbers 1-4. It is important to build number sense so kiddos know value and how numbers work. We started with number 1 and they added 1 animal cookie...then 2,3,4!

So smart!

Tracing and stamping our letter of the week!

Science time...
Making elephant toothpaste!

The kiddos had a blast making predictions of what was going to happen. This was super fun!

They all agreed this isn't the toothpaste for them!

We had fun this week with zoo animals. Next week we will explore leaves! I won't be here..but Sweet Mrs. Jaime will. Enjoy trike-a-thon and fall break!

Apple Green...Apple Red

What a yummy theme! This week we explored apples (and even got to taste them), worked on the Letter Aa, and the number 4. These little sponges are learning so much!

Thursday:
This sweet girl reading her favorite book to us, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear"

Our other star of the day! We took a selfie!

Painting our sweet apples...

Of course we can't forget an leaf hand print for our apples!!

Which kind of apple tasted best to you?

We made a graph and I was able to ask many higher level thinking math questions when we were done.  Some questions included: How many liked just the red and yellow? Which apples did the most prefer? How many kids tasted apple all together?

A perfect fine motor task...using tongs to pick up apples floating in the water.

These kiddos had an absolute blast!  Learning can be so much fun!

Peeling apple stickers for our A. Another grand fine motor task.

Our Aa 2 box sheet.

Staircase counting with apples. We added apples into each basket going up by one! I had these kiddos keep the apples so you could practice with them at home! This is a great way for them to use 1:1 counting and to develop their number sense.

Friday:
Tracing the letters Aa in applesauce. A fun way to make writing fun and incorporating sensory.

Volcano time! Let's make these apples erupt.

They LOVED this!

A sweet star of the day...

Another sweet star of the day!
I love learning about each of these kiddos!

Our apple craft. We will label the parts of the apple and send them home next week.

I loved this final product! Treasure these sweet hands!

Our fun snack...snack is yummy and educational!

We got to try some apple pie.

Adding apples to our trees. Each kiddo got to roll the dot cube and count the dots. We then counted out that many "apples" to add them to our tree. Concepts like this are pretty challenging...but these kiddos are super smart!

Great 1:1 counting!

Another great job counting!

Letter hunt!

These kiddos are amazing. We had a fun and yummy week!
