Winter Animals!

As always a super fun week! We explored winter animals (mainly penguins and polar bears), we worked on the letter Ww and finally moved on from 0-5 and began working on the number 6. I also began assessing some things that we have covered over the course of the year!

Thursday:
Making polar bears with our hands!
Did you know that a polar bear can weigh up to 400 pounds and has webbed feet to help them swim?

Enjoying 66 degrees with our friends!

Happy birthday to this sweet gal!
Can you guess how old she is?

Polar Bear, Polar Bear what do you hear?
Then we added sweet coconut to our polar bears! Pinching and grasping is a great fine motor skill!

Going on a letter hunt looking for those Ww's
 Friday:

Our sweet little penguins!
I had to tell this silly boy not to smile to get a smile! I'm so tricky!

 Play time!
Social and dramatic play is so very important! It encourages imagination and builds on social skills...things like taking turns and sharing. I love to watch them and listen to them!

best of friends!

Cooking up something for Mrs.Laura for lunch!

Great pencil grip!
I sent home a paper on how to help your kiddo have proper grip! I will continue to give you great ideas on how to promote it!

dotting that Ww...We even worked on tracing some!

Scissor time!
I will also be encouraging this! At home allow them to snip Play-Doh, yarn, paper...this will also help encourage proper grip and strengthen their hands.

See even my own kiddo has trouble! This is totally normal...we kindly grab the scissors and make the right adjustments.

better :)

If we were penguins...

Even penguins like carbs!

There it is...finally...A new number!
The kiddos worked on tracing the word 6 (tracing is another skill we will be focusing on)...then they added 6 penguins to the number. As we move on we are still encouraging the 1:1 counting (point to the number as you count).

Great grip buddy!

That is a perfect penguin life! :)
