Easter...All about Jesus and traditions!

It always amazes me how quickly these 2 days go by...and how much stuff we are able to fit in! We had a blast with science this week (some successes and some epic fails!) and the talk of the real meaning of this amazing holiday!

Thursday:
O.K. parents...I have to tell you...I am so proud of these smart kiddos and you! These sweet friends came back to school after a week long break and amazed me with the writing of there names! When they came in I had a coloring sheet (one that I will keep for their coloring sample in their portfolio) and asked them to do their best and write their names. I would say that about 85% of the kiddos did it on their own! I owe this to you...thank you for working with them at home!!
Marshmallows and bunnies...what isn't fun about that?

Ee is for eyes! These friends added sticker eyes to their Ee's. A fun task for them and a great fine motor activity to build strength for their sweet fingers!

My letter detectives! Nothing passes them! On Friday...we used the bunny poem I sent home and had them locate all the Ee's they could find within the poem. You can do this in their poetry folder...or take it a step further and have them find Ee's in a book you are reading or in some environmental print while out and about (Target, Best Buy, Olive Garden, etc)

We read the numbers and added that many sprouts to our carrots. The lines on the carrots helped them if they couldn't identify with the number.

Highway Ee's!

Footprint carrots!

Turned into priceless magnets! I hope you pull these out each and every year...hold these dear to your heart because they will never be this small again!

Science time...What isn't fun about Peeps and a microwave?

We made a list of predictions on what would happen before we put them into the microwave. This list was amazing! The predicted: They would melt, blow up, stay the same, burn, and catch fire!

We checked every 10-15 seconds to see if there was any difference.

We noticed that they grew about 5 times their size! We learned that when they were full of hot air they expanded...but when they cooled off they began to shrink! So cool! Also...they noticed that they color did seem to "melt" away!

Of course we then had to taste these scrumptious Peeps!

Bunny hop races! The rain won't keep us from having fun!

Now onto Easter egg races (on a spoon!)

This sweet boy made a special appearance just to deliver Gumby so the next friend could take him home!

Gumby had an amazing 2 weeks! Our sweet boy even had to perform surgery on Gumby...Gumby had an accident and lost his arm. But thanks to this sweet boy and Dr. Granddad...they were able to save him! Signing his cast may be a bit difficult though!

Who doesn't LOVE jellybeans? Did you know that jellybeans make great math skills? We counted, sorted, graphed, and answered many questions (which ones do we have the most of? Least of? Same? How many in all? How many more ___ than ___?) I love this type of hands-on learning!

This experiment was a fail. The egg actually exploded in my hand...but the kids had fun!
Here is the video to show you what was supposed to happen

It partially happened!
You were supposed to be able to walk on eggs and they would not crack. She was able to stand on them...but when she began to walk 2 cracked. Maybe next year... I would try using a 2 dozen pack. By the way a huge "Thank you!" to the mama that delivered them to me!

Another fail for me...here is the link to as what is supposed to happen

Our bible verse for the week: "He is not here, He has risen!" Matthew 26:8

What an amazing week. We are so blessed for so many reasons! Please keep the true meaning of Easter in your hearts and ask your kiddos about it! Happy Easter families! Can't wait to see you next week...Ocean here we come!
