To Infinity and Beyond! Our visit to outer space!

Of course another fun and educational week. I could probably spend another week or 2 on space! There were so many things to learn and do! For our letter we worked on the letter Uu and for our number we studied 7.

Thursday:

Mrs. Kelly read this story...we are finishing up with Jan Brett this week!

First thing on Thursday morning we welcomed a special space visitor, Mrs. Kelly! She read a story about space and gave us very interesting facts...before she had to blast off!

3-2-1 BLAST OFF!

This sweet boy brought in real space food for all his friends to try! Who knew ice cream sandwiches would taste like this...all dried out. This was a great teaching moment too...we talked about gravity and how astronauts eat in space.

Yum...Yum!
After reading this great story...we wanted to make out own moon to play with...

We laced the constellations...this is a great fine-motor skill. They had to follow the star pattern and then un-do it with the yarn

Here is the link for all of the constellation cards...these are super fun and easy to do at home

Here we used our beginning letter of our name to make a constellation of our own!

These stickers proved to be challenging for their sweet fingers...easy things such as this are great ways to strengthen their fingers and hands...not to mention they LOVE it!

Blasting off with a good...NON-FICTION book! We read many of these this week!

Can you match patterns?

We revisited the crystals from last week.

This sweet boy is starting with our "Gone with Gumby" activity! I can't wait to see all of the fun things they will do!  You have Gumby for an entire week!

Friday:
What makes the sun hot? We learned about the gases on the sun...fire! And we also learned it is the closest star to us. The sun has many jobs...see if you kiddo can remember them!

Only in my room...we have hula hooping contests!

Learning about our most important planet...EARTH!

If we had a rocket ship it would look something like this! A fun little fine motor skill for them Can you tell I LOVE activities for their tiny fingers!!

perfection!

We have been talking about constellations. I introduced them to the "Big Dipper" we talked about how we can see this constellation in the sky all the time! If you have time see if you can show your sweet kiddo! We also talked about the importance of stars...and how people can use them!

"The Big Dipper" has 7 stars in it. We were able to tie that into our number of the week.

Another fun way to practice counting and matching!

The infamous Moon Dough!

This simple activity is LOVED by the kiddos and dreaded by adults! Hope you all enjoyed it at home!

Just incase you are feeling brave and what to make it at home...here is the link!

What a fun theme to explore! We also finished up with Jan Brett and the kiddos got to take home one of her beloved books. We talked about our favorite Jan Brett story and learned a little more about her. Please read over her autobiography sheet that I sent home to you! We will explore Jane Yolen and Mark Teague for the month of February!
