Pets begin with P!

I had such a fun 2 days learning about all the kiddos special friends! They too are a part of your family! We worked on 1-1 correspondence when counting the pets that live at home with us, the letter Pp and the sound it makes, and continuing fine motor skills (especially the pencil grip).

Monday:

"Doggie, Doggie Where's your bone?

Someone took it from your home!"

Guess Who??

This sweet puppy too!

Fire Drill Practice...Gotta keep these kiddos safe! They knew just what to do!
Next we read this sweet story about a goldfish...

Then we made "Norman" a goldfish of our own!

This proved to be a very tough task for these mighty fingers. They got to hole punch pirates and princesses in honor of the letter Pp!

A great carry over activity to the home...this will definitely strengthen their hands and fingers!

This peacock needs some feathers and I know just the kiddos to do it!

Letter Pp hunt

I love problem solving skills. I gave the kiddos these pie charts and a handful of bones. I asked them to sort them without giving them any other directions.

They just knew to sort by color! Smart buddy!

Great job sweet friends!

A few of the stories we read on Monday.

When I read, How I became a pirate! by David Shannon I wore a pirate hat and passed it around so the kiddos could be pirates too! We love the letter Pp

A few of our Pp items! Great job sweet buddies!
Tuesday:

Another morning of Doggie, Doggie Where's your bone!

This sweet girl had Doggie's bone this time!

We read this sweet story and made our crazy Cookie Kitties...

These kiddos are getting so skilled in the Minds-in-Motion room!

This sweet buddy brought in a special snack that begins with Pp..Popcorn!!

Some of our stories we read on Tuesday...

Pp is for popcorn...These sweet fingers picked up popcorn kernels to glue onto the Pp's...a fun activity...yet a great fine motor one as well!

This week I introduced our "4-box" sheet. This is a letter activity that you will see weekly. It helps the kiddos learn the letters through making it multiple ways (sponge paint, stamps, tracing, and dotting it). I believe that consistency in teaching helps aid in learning.

Awesome work smart buddy!

A bit of number sense!

How many pets do you have at home? Let's stamp it out!

And trace the number! Great pencil grip sweet friend!

Next we organized the size of the bones. I asked the kiddos to sort them anyway they wanted...they problem solved by talking it out with their friends.

They did it...they sorted from biggest to smallest.

matching them up!

Playing with Play-doh!

some even wanted to try hole punching it...another super fine motor activity that can be done at home!!
What another fun week in Mrs. Laura's Class! Who knew learning could be so much fun and so hands-on! I can't wait to see what next week brings with one of my all time favorite author's who is also our theme...Eric Carle!
