A week filled with 3's, X's, and Teeth...Teeth...Teeth!

Monday...
We started the week by making our own mouths! I had the kiddos count out 10 marshmallows since that is the highest number we have worked on thus far.

Teeth can't be yellow! Let's fix that! This was their independent activity.

Nicely done!

A little /Xx/ work!

Perfection my sweet buddy!
We had the chance to check out our teeth. We counted, described, and then drew a picture of our smile!

Super job with proper form holding a crayon!

Our science experiment!! We compared eggs to our teeth. It all started by touching the egg.

I showed them the 3 different things the eggs would soak in over night (vinegar, coffee, soda)
Many had never smelt vinegar before so I went around the room and allowed them to take a quick whiff! The consensus was mutal...Yuck! ha!

We went around making predictions on what we thought would happen. A few of the responses were: Change color, grow, explode, break. Great thinking my friends!!
We noticed bubbles after we dropped the egg into the vinegar. They were so intrigued!

We ended the day with a bit of math! Let's add 3 teeth to our smile. So many said this looked like a baby! They must have younger siblings at home...love the home to school connection!

They had to count out the 3 teeth...using 1-1 correspondence and glue them on all by their sweet selves! They rocked this! The fine motor skills of picking up these little teeth and then applying glue on it is so challenging!

Tuesday...
Let's make a toothbrush to help us remember the importance of brushing our teeth!

This was my favorite part of the activity. They had to cut the white piece to make it look like bristles on the toothbrush. This took some patience. It is so easy to cut all the way through.

Great job buddy! next we used a combinations of glue, paint, and shaving cream to add "paste" to our brush. I had to remind them not to eat it because it looks so much like whipped frosting...ha!

Let's scrub those "sugar bugs" away!

We practiced flossing icky food out of our teeth. So much fun...I sure put those hands to work!

We love a great book in our room! Great reading sunshine!

Lego time!!

A masterpiece!
Our newest dentists!

Time for a drill...yikes!
Making more teeth!

All in!
It is time for a puppet show! Dramatic play is such a great way to increase social time and imagination.
Such great friends here!

Here my sweet guy had to roll out little teeth and count them as he added them to the smile. Great job...and you know how I love those fine motor skills!

Time to check our eggs!

What do we notice about the soda egg? It is brown!

The vinegar egg...it lost its shell! Let's touch it and see what it feels like! Oh...soooo slimy!
ohhhhh....sooooo slimy!

"Squishy!"

The coffee egg was the darkest in color. Let's see if we can brush it white again. It helped but they didn't get as white as they did before. We talked about what we can do to keep our teeth healthy and white!

This activity was tricky. What is healthy for our teeth and what tastes yummy are 2 different things...a tough concept for these sweet kiddos!

Great job kiddos!

What a fun and educational week! I could spend so much more time on this theme. Have a super rest of the week and I look forward to Dr. Seuss next week!
