GIngerbread...and ooopsss I forgot about trees and lights!

This week was sweet in so many ways! We continued the push for proper pencil holding, we graphed gingerbread parts that we ate, worked on the letter Gg and the number 0...We even got to show family and friends our creative side with Earth and Fire Pottery!
In our morning message I always ask a question and leave the beginning of a few words blank so they have to "listen" for the sound. They are always beginning letters that we have covered. We then count our tallies.

Today we got to taste our gingerbread...I had them take only 1 bite to begin with. Then we graphed what we ate first. The head, an arm, or a leg.

Sounds silly...but these kiddos making a straight line is awesome. They have come a long way in 15 weeks.

Our finished prodcut. I was excited to have a 0 for the arm! This helped lead into the discussion of the number 0!

Craft time! Let's paint! We are learning how to "cover the white"

Can it get much cuter than this!?!

Well not by much...but adding our sweet face to our ornament makes it the perfect treasure!

Wiki sticks! This week I had these kiddos form the lower case g using these little wax sticks (thanks to a special parent who donated them!) This is challenging for them to manipulate this small piece and create something.

Watch...

and learn!

Making the letter Gg in so many ways!

Week 2 of color by number! This is so valuable for recongizing numbers and following simple directions! This was also their indpendent activity.

Massive improvement this week!

Look at that grip!! Tracing has come a long way too!

Check this grip out...now in the next picture is the power of a PENNY!

I placed a penny in the last 2 fingers...she had to hold on to it and still hold her pencil. This grip is prefection! AND you can do this at home!

Earth and Fire time!

Making ornaments and....

memories!

We got to have some fun after ornaments were complete!

This mama is having a blast...Dinosaurs anyone?

Run, Run as fast as you can!

You can't catch me!

I am the gingerbread man...or girl! :)

Some kiddos are able to write their own names and others are learning to trace the letters! How amazing is that for these 3 year olds!?! He is soooo proud! Ok...let me chat a second on names. Before a child begins reading they begin to recongize their name and names of their family/friends. To help with learning letters begin with the letters in their name. You can even cut their name up into pieces and have them arrange them in the right order! Make note of tall letters, long letters, short letters, etc!

This next activity was with our weekly poem. After we read it the kiddos had to locate the letter Gg.
They used highlighter tape to locate them.

This is powerful because it is allowing the kiddos to see that letters make up words.

OK now...this kiddos amazed me! I must share this story. In locating the Gg's I was only hoping for them to find the beginning letters...When he raised his hand he showed me the first capitol G he found and then said, "There is another little g in this word" and located a g in the middle of the word! Words could not express my excitement! The others caught on quickly to that and ALL Gg's were found!!

What...I can't trick you! Smarty pants!

Gg word hunt!

Just look at that awesome work!
